A. Kenison Roy, III, M.D.,
FASAM
Medical Director
Dr. Roy is Clinical
Assistant Professor of
Psychiatry at Tulane Medical
School. In April of 1997 he
was appointed a Fellow of
The American Society of
Addiction Medicine (FASAM.)
Dr. Roy admits patients to
River Oaks Hospital and East
Jefferson General Hospital
in the New Orleans area.
His primary focus, however,
is Addiction Recovery
Resources of New Orleans, a
non-profit agency that
provides a full spectrum of
services from ambulatory
detoxification through
intensive outpatient and
residential Dual Diagnosis
and addiction treatment. Dr.
Roy was the recipient of the
2008 Annual Psychiatric
Leadership Award, presented
by the Louisiana Psychiatric
Medical Association.
Roy D. Ary, M.D.

Treatment
Dr. Ary is an
addictionologist at
Addiction Recovery Resources
of New Orleans (ARRNO). He
received his medical degree
from Louisiana State
University School of
Medicine in New Orleans. Dr.
Ary completed a residency in
Emergency Medicine at
Louisiana State University
Health Sciences Center/Earl
K. Long Medical Center in
Baton Rouge. He is a
practicing emergency
physician with 16 years of
clinical experience. While
on the faculty at Emory
University in Atlanta, he
acquired additional training
and certification in
Addiction Medicine. He
currently admits patients
for detoxification and
psychiatric care at River
Oaks Hospital, cares for
patients in the Residential
Treatment Program at ARRNO,
and has a private office
practice in Addiction
Medicine.
Georgette Somjen, M.D.
Ambulatory Detoxification
Program, Intensive
Outpatient Program
Dr. Somjen practices
Addiction Medicine. She
completed a residency in
Family Medicine and a
Fellowship in Addiction
Medicine. She is also a
Licensed Professional
Counselor and
Internationally Certified
Advanced Alcohol and Drug
Counselor. Dr. Somjen is a
member to the American
Society of Addiction
Medicine.
Dr Somjen supervises
Ambulatory Detoxification,
treats patients in the
Intensive Outpatient Program
group therapy, sees patients
long term in private
practice, and admits to
River Oaks Hospital Dual
Diagnosis Unit for
detoxification and
psychiatric care.
Jan Bruckmeier, MSN, RN
Jan has a Master's in
Science in Psychiatric
Nursing as a Clinical Nurse
Specialist, Psychiatry. She
is a member of Sigma Theta
Tau, an honorary Master's
prepared nursing sorority.
Prior to her work at ARRNO,
Jan worked at De Paul -
Tulane Behavioral Health
Center.
Currently, Jan sees
predominantly psychiatric
patients for psychiatric
evaluations and medication
management visits, and some
dual diagnosis patients. She
has a total of twenty-eight
years of experience in
psychiatry.
Stephen Kessler, L.P.C., M.H.S.,
C.R.C.
Residential Treatment
Program
Stephen has been working for Addiction Recovery
Resources for the past five
years. During that time, he
has worked every program,
including Intensive
Outpatient, Continuing Care,
and Residential Treatment.
After Hurricane Katrina,
Stephen was promoted to the
position of Residential
Coordinator. In addition to
running the residential
program, Stephen maintains a
caseload of individual
patients and runs group
therapy on a daily basis.
His particular interests in
counseling include the
cognitive therapies,
especially rational emotive
behavior therapy. Stephen
received his Master’s degree
from LSU in 2003.
Tonya Coulliette, M.Ed., NCC
Intensive Outpatient
Treatment
Tonya received her
Bachelor’s degree at Florida
State University in special
education with a specialty
in behavior disorders. She
taught eighth grade for four
years before returning to
get her Masters Degree.
Tonya received her Master’s
degree in 2006 from the
University of New Orleans in
Counselor Education. She is
currently in supervision for
her Licensed Professional
Counselor credential, and
her Licensed Addiction
Counselor credential.
Tonya is the Director of the
Intensive Outpatient
Treatment Program at ARRNO.
Her responsibilities include
program development and
curriculum, individual,
family, and group therapy.
She also administers the
Substance Abuse Subtle
Screening Inventory for all
the Intensive Chemical
Dependency Evaluations at
ARRNO.
Nikki Perry, M.Ed., N.C.C.
Residential Treatment
Program
Nikki has a Master of
Education degree in
Counselor Education from the
University of New Orleans.
She completed her degree
internship here at ARRNO and
felt honored to be asked to
be part of the clinical
team. After a year and a
half of working in the
Intensive Outpatient Program
she has begun working in the
Residential/Partial
Hospitalization program. She
has earned National
Certified Counselor (NCC)
status, and is currently
working towards licensure as
a Professional Counselor (LPC)
and licensure as an
Addictions Counselor (LAC).
Nikki holds membership in
the Louisiana Counseling
Association. She is eclectic
in practice, primarily
utilizing
Cognitive-Behavioral and
Gestalt techniques to
empower clients to heal and
reach their goals.
Andrea Lee, M.S.
Continuing Care
Andrea’s educational background includes a Master
of Science in Counseling
from Loyola University of
New Orleans in 2007.
She is currently in
supervision for her Licensed
Professional Counselor
credential, and her Licensed
Addiction Counselor
credential. She is trained
in Gorski’s Relapse
Prevention and is currently
pursuing of certification in
relapse prevention as well.
Andrea’s professional
background includes
individual, group, family
and couples sessions. Her
theoretical approach to
counseling is an eclectic
use of Rogerian, Gestalt,
Existential, and Realty
Theory principles,
incorporating educational,
psychodrama, as well
psychoanalytical components
in her counseling approach.
Andrea is also a member of
the Alpha Sigma Nu Jesuit
Honor Society.
Paul
Schaefer, Ph.D., L.P.C., N.C.C.
Residential Treatment
Program
Dr. Schaefer is a
Licensed Professional
Counselor (LPC) and
Nationally Certified
Counselor (NCC)
currently serving on the
Residential Treatment
team at ARRNO. He
earned his Bachelor of
Arts in Psychology and
his doctoral degree in
Counselor Education from
the University of New
Orleans (UNO). While at
UNO, he also attended
the New Orleans Baptist
Theological Seminary to
concentrate on a minor
in spirituality. In
2005, Dr. Schaefer
founded Celebration Hope
Center, the greater New
Orleans area's only
faith-based outpatient
mental health and
licensed intensive
outpatient substance
abuse recovery
program. He also worked
as part of the clinical
team for three years at
the prestigious Master’s
and Johnson Program at
River Oaks Psychiatric
Hospital and has a
combined total of 15
years of mental health
and addiction recovery
experience. He has
worked as an adjunct
professor in the
counseling department at
Liberty University
through the distance
learning program. In
addition, he has over 18
years as a leader in the
Louisiana Army National
Guard and Army Reserve,
where he currently
specializes in
Psychological
Operations.
Andrew Hurley, M.A.,
L.P.C.
Psychotherapist
Andrew is
a Licensed Professional
Counselor (LPC) with a
Master's degree in
Marriage and Family
Therapy from Reformed
Theological Seminary in
Jackson, Mississippi. He
established multiple
counseling facilities in
underserved areas of
Mississippi and served
on the board of the
Mississippi Association
of Marriage and Family
Therapy. He has been an
adjunct professor in
psychology for Hinds
Nursing and Allied
Health Center, as well
as a guest lecturer in
communication and
conflict resolution for
Reformed Theological
Seminary. Andrew has
training in Internal
Family Systems Therapy
and is pursuing
licensure as a Marriage
and Family Therapist.
He is interested in the
impact of attachment and
emotional learning on
awareness, relationship,
and development. He
works with individuals,
families, and couples.
